A life as abstract as abstract algebra
Time compounds at equal intervals of time. At any given interval, you're exactly where you were at a different interval of time doing a completely different thing. At the end of it all you'll be in a third dimensional plane, because you are time less, not out of time.
First world Vs Third world
One fine afternoon I started to wonder the terms First, Second and Third world countries. Among the thousands of divisions the Man created, the Man wasn't quite satisfied. He went on to add one more to the funeral pyre.
Theoritically First world country represents high standard of living (don't worry about the homeless in US as of now), Democratic (come on now, don't talk about the civil rights movement) and technologically advanced. So there is that. I live here.
Second world country, I won't worry about them
Third world country, well this is where I hail from.
Having been in US for the last so many years, I wonder what it took for this country to become a super power. And besides the standard of living that the first world country promises, why is medical just so friggin' expensive? My CT scan without insurance us $2000/-. Don't even get me started on this one.
A 7 tablet antibiotic Levaquin pack costs $245/-. This is Rs9800/- in Indian currency. That used to be my salary (infact just lesser than that, I worked for a stingy company, yes I moved on). Compare this to a Rs30/ antibiotic strip in India. And did I mention this is not Over The Counter.
In India everything is over the counter. Well if you can get condoms over the counter, doesn't that responsibility certify/qualify you to get tablets just like that? Why is it just so damn hard in US? I mean I cannot get an actifed that has pseudofedrine OTC. Let me not digress. How an earth can an average worker afford antibiotics with out insurance?
Sure they are not costly. If I can get the same in India for Rs50/- I should get it for $1.5 here. Somehow logic ceases to exist in the developed countries when it comes to medicine. Over the years what should be a basic necessity has become a privilege in the great west. Politicians pretty much live on this issue. Parties win and lose on this issue.
So what exactly is the quality of life 3rd world country promises?
Roads? well that is good for your car; Clean air/water? oh no no, did you hear about global warming the politicians started on, or the medicine strains found in your tap water? Ok how about quality food? Well if McDonalds happens to be your kitchen..sorry my friend you're few fries away from looking like a Big Mac.
Hey come on there should be something the great west has to offer! Yep, we also offer Guns just incase you want to shoot that insurance agent who just declined coverage for that operation, or that collection agency guy who called your neighbour.
And incase you run out of excuses..turn on CNN brother. Your local news would talk about Britney and why she tonsured. Or CNBC Big Idea would talk about how some slut made a fortune. Now that is one big idea
Well my point is, I've lamented enough.
